'First Contact' Backgrounds - GMAC Film, 2022/2023
The film has a unique blend of stop-motion and 2D digital animation. To seamlessly blend these mediums I created backgrounds that used a combination of stop-motion set making, photographic textures, and 2D digital art to create it's own visual identity in the background artwork.

'Alarmed' - 2021
This short film was created in a month so the turnaround for backgrounds was sharp; due to the simplistic nature of the film's 2D style. the most important part was capturing the perspective on all the furniture perfectly.

For this background I needed to create all the walls, floor, and staircase separately before assembling them within After Effects to create a 3D set to move the digital camera through.

'The Magentalman and The Gentlemint' - Edinburgh University, 2021
The film is set in a world devoid of colour except for magenta and green, with colour entering the world by the end of the film. To emphasise the feeling of the rush of colour at the climax of the film I reduced the contrast of the backgrounds that weren't in colour, giving the whole setting more of a washing out 'empty void' feeling, ready to be filled with colour and life. They were created digitally with monoprint and woodgrain textures I created applied on top.

The final scene where the world is filled with colour, with backgrounds separated into layers to allow for more dynamic movement in the pan out.
